Ad (BEST09-30)

This year, they made a new Folgers homecoming ad.



Apparently this was a remake of a 1985 commercial (Here if you must) that people rave about, but I just don't see what was so great about the old one. This, on the other hand, made me cry when I watched it, and again when I called immediately after and tried to tell my mom about it (not just tearing up, but tears and choked up to where my voice was breaking and I had to take some deep breaths), and again today as I thought about it for writing this post. Whew!

I loev how the writers not only told a story, but also included so much backstory, in such a quick ad. You know the sister used to be snotty to the brother, that she started to value him while he was gone, she matured enough to put him (a person/relationship) above things. And the panicky-joy of the parents when they wake up.... Got  me going again now!

I did a little research and found out the different kinds of awards ads can get.

There are the CLIO awards, the Mobius Awards, Cresta Awards, and ADDYs.

At the Crestas, my favorites this year were in the "winners" section (not grand prix winners) - do a search for "Pert Plus" (it's about falling hair and the only one that made me laugh out loud), "Imagination" (for Hornbach DIY stores), "Audi quattro" (Urban Carving), "Don't disturb" (Assn for the blind)
